Professor Hi-Taek Shin is the Chairman of the KCAB INTERNATIONAL,
Korean Commercial Arbitration Board’s international division.
He also serves as the Chairman of the Korea Trade Commission.
He recently retired from Seoul National University School of Law where
he taught international business transactions and resolution of commercial and
investment disputes arising from cross-border transactions since 2007. Prior to moving to academia in 2007,
he was a partner at Kim & Chang specializing in mergers and acquisitions,
cross-border investments and the resolution of disputes arising from cross-border investment projects.
He regularly sits as an arbitrator, both in international commercial arbitrations and investment treaty arbitrations.
He is on the panel of arbitrators for the major international arbitral institutions such as HKIAC, ICDR, ICSID, KCAB and SIAC.
He is a member of the international commercial expert committee of the Supreme People’s Court of China.
He authored the Korean chapter in ‘Commentaries on Selected Model Investment Treaties’ (C. Brown ed., 2013), ‘UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and the Investment Treaty Arbitration Practice’ (in Korean, 2013), and the Korean Chapter in “The UNCITRAL Model Law and Asian Arbitration Laws: Implementation and Comparisons (G. Bell ed., 2019).
He chaired special commissions organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea for the enactment of the Arbitration Promotion Act. He also participated in the task force commissioned by the Ministry of Justice for the amendment of the Arbitration Act of Korea.
Steve Kim is the Secretary-General of KCAB INTERNATIONAL.
As a US attorney, Steve has extensive experience in the field of international arbitration, and served as the Director of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution of the American Arbitration Association (New York). During his tenure at ICDR, he helped to grow the ICDR to become the global number one international arbitration administration center. Steve also served as a senior corporate counsel for Samsung Corning Precision Material, advising on various corporate legal matters including dispute resolution, antitrust investigation, intellectual property negotiation, JV and host of other high-profile matters. Steve then went on to become the Korea country manager for CPA Global, one of the largest intellectual property legal service providers based in UK. As a country manager, Steve achieved multiple million USD in new sales and created a new business paradigm which helped CPA Global to become the largest IP service provider in Korea and other key Asian markets. Steve served as a Korea consultant for one of the largest EU law firm, assisting the firm to develop new business in Korea and made inroads to new revenue stream in the field of dispute resolution, IP, natural resources, technology and cross-border investment.
Recognizing the importance of helping new companies to grow beyond the Korean market, Steve advised several start-up companies in various industries including livestock health management and blockchain technology.
Steve was invited to speak in numerous conferences to speak about business management, technology, IP and other issues in various countries including China and Denmark.
Steve graduated from University of California San Diego (UCSD) in 1994 and received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law (New York) in 1997. Steve is fluent in both English and Korean.
Mr. Heehwan Kwon is the Director at KCAB INTERNATIONAL and is in charge of the international promotion and cooperation projects within KCAB. He has been with KCAB since 2002, working in various divisions within the organization including the department of planning and management. He also has extensive experience as an arbitration case administrator. He was instrumental in the revision process of the 2016 KCAB International Arbitration Rules and has overseen the planning of the KCAB roadshows outside of Korea since 2016. He holds a B.A. in Public Administration and Policy from Yonsei University and a masters from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. Also, he is about to finalize his Ph.D. course by majoring international trade.
Sangyub Lee is the Deputy Director in KCAB INTERNATIONAL. Before joining KCAB, he had worked as a journalist and an in-house counsel for the Korea Economic Daily, one of the most influential local newspaper companies. He had a role in trying to keep the public informed of KCAB’s achievements and potential through writing a variety of articles, especially covering international arbitration. Joining KCAB’s International Cooperation team, he is mainly in charge of promotion of KCAB INTERNATIONAL by managing diverse networks of the international arbitration community, also administering arbitration cases in English and Korean as a case manager.
Taehee Ahn is Counsel at KCAB INTERNATIONAL. He administers arbitration cases in English and Korean. Before joining KCAB INTERNATIONAL, he completed doctorate course (without degree) in international law, including investor-state arbitration. As an attorney licensed in the State of New York, he served as an arbitrator for Vis East Moot Competition and FDI Moot Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds.

Ms. Jae-Hee Jeon is the Deputy-Manager at KCAB INTERNATIONAL. She is in charge KCAB INTERNATIONAL and Seoul IDRC event management, website content management, social media platform various marketing projects. She is native in Korean and fluent in English.
HyeJeong Do, PhD, is the Deputy-Manager of KCAB INTERNATIONAL. She has worked in various divisions in KCAB, including the domestic arbitration and mediation teams. She holds a doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degree in law. In February 2015, she became the first Korean national to hold a Certificate in Transnational Law from the University of Geneva. Her publications include multiple articles in the field of international arbitration. She is native in Korean and fluent in English.
Ms. Wonhee Shin is Assistant Manager at KCAB INTERNATIONAL. She promotes KCAB INTERNATIONAL, managing on/offline PR channels and supporting various marketing campaigns and events. She is native in Korean and fluent in English and German.

Seung Won Her is the Deputy-Director of Vietnam at KCAB INTERNATIONAL. She promotes KCAB INTERNATIONAL and manages ADR consultation for Vietnam-based Korean and multi-national companies in Hanoi. She is native Korean and fluent in Japanese and Vietnamese.
Ji Yoon Park

Ji Yoon Park is the Director of KCAB INTERNATIONAL Shanghai Office. She graduated from Peking University with Bachelor of Management and she obtained an LL.M. degree in Chinese Business Law. Prior to joining KCAB INTERNATIONAL, she worked as a managing partner and director of compliance at a foreign private company in China, and a case counsel assistant at a Chinese arbitration institute. She promotes KCAB INTERNATIONAL and manages ADR consultation for multi-national companies in China. She is native in Korean and fluent in Chinese and English.
